Toast!

Dear Elise,

You know what you want, and it's not baby food. In the past little while we have been exposing you to more and more new foods, blueberries, toast, cheese, chicken and pork are your favourites, and you don't want to go back, steadfastly turning your head and shaking 'no' when the spoon approaches. One exception is applesauce, which you will peer suspiciously at, until you remember that it's the Good Stuff and not blended up beefandspaghettimush (i wouldn't eat that either).

Today you had the biggest giggling fit of all time! You and Avril were in the bath and Av was drumming her feet on the bottom of the tub, which created small splashes and for some reason this was hilarious to you!!! It was a good 10 minutes of laughing! Always lightens dad's mood to hear that before going to into work!

walking yes indeed!

Dear Elise,

You are getting the walking thing down! Avril was the first to see you walking on October 4th. Mom and Dad were busy in the kitchen and all of a sudden Avril shouted out 'hey look guys, elise is walking she's taking steps!' sure enough, you took a few more across the kitchen floor! you're getting better every day and getting more and more adventurous.

Your first 'joke'

You scrunch up your eyes, chin and nose and make a snuffling noise and think it's hilarious when we make your funny face back to you :)

Almost walking

Dear Elise,

you're almost there! shuffling along the couch, scurrying along the ground after your sister, it's only a matter of months or perhaps weeks before you'll be taking your first steps!

we have started giving you milk, as you hate formula and you are really good at holding the cup yourself! you are loving feeding yourself, especially bananas and beans!

Your First Camping Trip

Dear Elise,

We took you for your first camping trip this weekend. We went to Rock Point Provincial Park in Dunnville.

The first night you were a little unsettled with not knowing where you were when you woke up and the night turned very cold so we piled you onto the air mattress with Avril, Dad and me. That was also the first time we have all shared a bed together!

You absolutely loved being outside and playing with your toys on the blankets! I think that your favourite part of the weekend was your first swim in a lake. I took you out in a floatie ring and you had a great time splashing and riding the waves!

You certainly seem to have inherited the camping gene from your dad and me :)

I'm looking forward to many more camping adventures together!

Earthquake

Dear Elise,

We had an earthquake yesterday! It was a 5.5
You slept right through it :)
It wasn't terribly bad where we were, just a little shaking and nothing broken.

You made your first distinct "dada" sounds this morning! You still haven't put together the sound with who your Dad is, but that comes next. I love listening to you talking to your toys, Avril or me. You make the most wonderful gurgling sounds and your voice is so expressive!

Love,
Mommy

Spinnin'

Dear Elise,

The last 2 weeks you have grown more than the last 5 months combined in my eyes. We started feeding you on solids! You love Rice cereal and bananas, and rice crackers, but chicken...not so much. You are almost waving and love to shake your head back and forth - 'no!' with a big smile on your face. I missed you so much in San Antonio! You love to spin around on your tummy, reaching for new toys; crawling is not far away. You are now sitting up and playing - it's great to see you explore your world! Right now one of your favourite toys is the music mirror. No words yet, but i thought i almost heard a "hi!" the other day!

Welcome!

Welcome to the world Elise Ariel Cecile!

What a wonderful addition to our family you have made, little Bright Eyes, a beautiful little christmas gift!

You came right on schedule, your own of course that is. We were scheduled to have you induced on the day you arrived, and first thing in the morning your mother started to have contractions. it seemed to me that your birth was much shorter than your sister's, but i guess your mom and i were both a little more relaxed having gone through it before.

so far your eyes have not changed from the bright blue that looks around inquisitively and with interest. i have been told that sometimes it takes a year for them to change, so we'll see, but right now you are 'bright eyes', with more and more bright smiles going with them :)
